Brunswick Phonograph – Model 17 (Style 175) c.1918

$2,735.00

Stunningly preserved, 100% original, and hard to find Brunswick Model 17 in solid fumed Oak!

This phonograph was very well preserved by a local (Minneapolis/St.Paul) family, evidenced by the 100% original Рmuseum quality condition. The cabinet is nearly flawless (we are super fussy), and the mechanical components in outstanding condition. The motor has been broken down to adequately remove oxidized grease, debris and oil from all of the articulating parts, freshly lubricated, reassembled and adjusted to Brunswick factory specifications. The motor of this phonograph is very robust, it has a three spring motor (even the spring barrels are nickel plated) that allows for smooth, quiet, long plays with very little need for continuous winding. The Ultona reproducer can host any variety of 78 record types from Edison to Path̩ to standard lateral groove. *The Ultona reproducer, patented by Louis Taxon in 1917, was a unique feature of the Brunswick unit. It was designed to play the three types of discs or records sold at that time: normal lateral shellac (78s produced by Columbia and Victor) vertical cut shellac (Pathe) and vertical cut Diamond Discs (Edison). The reproducer can be rotated to use steel needles, diamond points, and ball-shaped sapphire stylus with a metal shank. Brunswicks have internal horns made of holly or spruce. This model has sliding record storage compartments that can comfortably house up to about 100 records. The original grille fabric arrived partially intact, but had perished beyond the point of restoration Рso removed. The original grille back side style marker was left intact. Includes original functional key! All serial numbers match as shown.

This particular model was considered a higher end model, considering the number of phonographs that we have seen on a very granular level – we agree 100%. This is a high quality, well constructed, well engineered phonograph collectors phonograph sure to make a grand statement in any home.
